The Grand LA Project designed by Frank Gehry located across the street from the Walt Disney Concert Hall consists of 349 market-rate apartments, 87 affordable housing units, and a 309-room hotel. It has two towers, 39 and 20 stories in height with a retail podium. The clips were taken in May 2022.

When I saw the Cardboard Strat that Fender Custom Shop made in 2015, I really wanted to make one. Now I just got a chance to do it, but I wanted to do it a bit differently. This is one of the most interesting architectural exhibitions that I've seen in the past few years. The works of Heatherwick Studio, found by Thomas Heatherwick, are so innovative and striking. Sorry for the shaky camera and fast panning. I was trying to keep the vdo short.

Water Temple designed by Tadao Ando was completed in 1991. I've visited the temple in October 2010. It was one of the most peaceful and quiet places I've ever been.

Christ Cathedral (formerly the Chrystal Cathedral) in Garden Grove is worthy of a visit if you happen to be in the area(Disneyland?).

@@torandmeier I think you can use the word 'sublime' to describe its interior. Also, by visiting you could view the works of architects Richard Neutra and Richard Meiers located on the same campus adjacent to Philip Johnson's Cathedral.
LA really has some fantastic architecture representing so many styles and periods.

Did you seal the cardboard with anything?
Thanks for watching. Yes, I sealed the cardboard with resin. The downside is that it makes the cardboard edge quite sharp. I had to put a piece of cloth between my arm and the guitar body while playing it. 🙂

As part of an Architectural Student Tour in 1974, our class visited this the Robie House. Two things that I retain to this day, (1) the juxtaposition of this extreme example of Prairie Style Architecture in an urban setting with high-rise buildings all around and (2) the 10:00 AM light streaming through the light screens (windows), the prismatic light dancing in the air. A magical experience! Thank you for this video clip!
Thanks for sharing your experience. I felt the same thing. As an apprentice at Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture for a short time in 1997, I've got to visit several houses designed by Mr. Wright and also lived and studied in both Taliesin West and Taliesin in Wisconsin. I felt that his architecture touched me at spiritual level. I still remember the citrus smell the first time I arrived at night at Taliesin West and all the lighting. It was also magical.
@@torandmeier such a minute percentage of our built environment enhances our physical experience with our daily lives. The great outdoors seems to succeed on a more consistent basis. Mr. Wright, an American genius, gifted us with a tranche of spectacular, three dimensional art which touches our soul.

FLW is probably spinning in his grave seeing those stackable chairs scattered throughout the house. His motto was either sit in a chair designed by him ir stand up.
They could have done it like at Taliesin West. They display all the original furniture in his living room (at least when I was there.)

There’s something unsettling about “floating” a stone wall out into space. The structure is obviously supported by steel or cast concrete and that should be honestly expressed by the building’s exterior. The Japanese love and skill with lumber is a good way to express the truth about structural support.
